The Green Apple Pantry Impact Report

Making a difference for the future of Grand Rapids and Kentwood.

The mission of The Green Apple Pantry is to provide healthy food options by feeding our neighbors today while empowering them for tomorrow. Answering the challenge of hunger means meeting our neighbor’s needs today while addressing strategies that have a lasting impact on the overall health of our community.

Many families in Kent County are faced with food insecurity, those without access to affordable and nutritious food. In Kent County, 35% of families with children face food insecurity. We believe that healthy food is a right not a privilege.

It is through both existing and new partnerships that we can support the overall health of our neighbors by providing fresh produce, a variety of protein options and other nutrient dense foods. These partnerships help us break down barriers and increase access to healthy nourishing food.

The past few years have presented many challenges as well as many opportunities to improve our impact. We continue to explore new ways to be culturally relevant and provide solutions to food insecurity. Ultimately, we feed hungry families, and the gratitude of our neighbors is not just a statistic it is immeasurable.

Without the financial assistance of this community and support of volunteers, we would not be able to fulfil our mission. We thank you for all you did for us in 2023 and hope you will continue to support us well into the future.
