Corporate Sponsors, Board Members, Staff and Volunteers Unite to Fight Hunger at the Hunger Walk 2015 .
The annual Hunger Walk is always a great place to see the community gather around the issue of hunger, local and global hunger.
Hundreds of people converge on the registration tables and then march to the start line like warriors off to battle. Young and old, after weeks of organizing and gathering donations, these souls make the 5k trek together expressing their care for their neighbors in need.
Our corporate sponsors this year: Brann’s Steakhouse, Distinctive Catering by Brann’s and Merchandise Equipment were featured prominently on the recycled material tote bags given to each of the walkers. Their sponsorships make up 1/3 of the grant we receive. Another key donor for us this year was the Christian singles’ group, Good News, which meets at the John Knox Presbyterian Church. With their help, our walk day volunteers and walkers we fulfilled all our obligations and became eligible for a nearly $6,000 grant.
Thank you, as well to The Pantry’s walk team. One of our volunteers, devoted entirely to the Walk, even came with their foot in a cast and a knee scooter. Who could ask for a better crew!
