Happy Summer

Jul 21, 2020 By

Dear Neighbors, Friends, and Community,

It is hard to believe that we have been working under our Covid conditions for 17 weeks. Spring is gone and we are now deep into summer.

We long for normalcy, however we know that normal will look very different in the weeks and months to come.

The Green Apple is taking back volunteers on a scheduled basis. If you are interested in helping us feed our neighbors please contact Yoli via email (at yolifuentes@thegreenapplepantry.org).

We continue to serve our neighbors with grace and have been able to meet all food needs of this community. The outpouring of West Michigan is like nothing we have ever experienced, and we feel incredibly blessed.

Because of Covid, all Spring Fundraisers were canceled. This included our Annual Spring Luncheon. Due to these cancelations we decided to reach our donors through at a Virtual “Plant A Seed” Fundraiser.

I am pleased to announce that we have exceed our goal of $10,000, raising more than $16,000. Thanks to the support of many individuals and Michigan State University Federal Credit Union we are considering our first attempt at a Virtual Fundraiser to be a huge success.

This money will be used to complete Phase 1 of our community garden and help fund our Fresh Market. Ensuring that we can continue to make a difference in the lives of the neighbors that we serve.

We are very excited that our community garden, Neighborhood Roots is growing and thriving! Please stop by and see the gardens progress. We would love to say Hi and show you around this amazing space.

Please stay tuned for more details about our Fall Harvest festivities and as always, THANK YOU for helping us grow!

Kindly,

Nancy Cromley
Executive Director, The Green Apple
